This community is based on two different forms of RPing. Actions threads that are posted in the main community and journal based RP.

Action Community Threads

When posting in the main community, you are putting your character into a live situation involving actions and dialogue. Let's say, for example, that Miley convinced Nick to meet her in his back yard. We will assume that they discussed this through the journals which will be touched on later. I, as Miley, would post to the main community. I would write the setting/location and what characters are involved. I would follow that with an lj cut under which I would type the beginning of the thread.

Example

Setting: Jonas Backyard, Treehouse
Characters: Miley and Nick

[lj-cut]

This was it, I could feel it. I was finally going to convince Nick that he loved me. Because I knew that he did, of course. Once I had climbed the rope latter and settled down in the corner of the treehouse, I focused on my breathing and concentrated on what I was exactly going to say (which had all be scripted multiple times, of course).

I heard the rope ladder creak, signaling me that he was coming. He was coming, my Nick. Whoo... Breath, Miley, take deep breaths, I told myself silently.

"Hi Nick," I said brightly while moving to the edge to watch him finish his climb up.

[/lj-cut]

Then Nick would reply to this post, picking up where Miley left off and letting the reader in on his thoughts.

Why Post In Community Threads?

It's the novel part of the game (role playing game). This is the area where the reader can scroll through and read it like a book with ever changing point of views.

How Do You Know When to Start A Community Thread?

Most of the time, threads are decided through conversations on the journals. Two or more characters will be commenting each other on the journals and they may agree to meet somewhere. One of the players will start the thread and the other will join in.

Other times, you can post a thread as 'open'. This means that you place your character into a situation, tell your surroundings and why you are there and any other character can reply to you. This is good for when you have no one to RP with at the moment and you want to see who else may be lurking around with no one else to RP. You RP with each other by one of you posting an open thread.

In a few instances, a character may see that other characters are agreeing to meet somewhere and decide to crash the party, or intrude on their thread. This is an excellent technique for paprazzi characters. Even if their character is hidden, the reader and player will know that she/he is there.

What is allowed in a Community Thread?

Almost everything. You and the other player/s that you are working with get to make all the decisions. You can have the characters move from one location to another, even if it's not the original location that was written on the initial post. Things like that.

Pretty much the only thing you can not do is god mod. You can not write out the actions or dialogue of any character besides your own. Half the fun is not knowing what the other character will say or do next.

Also not allowed is one-sentence replies. You must make replies as thorough and interesting as possible. It's not fair to the other player if you don't give them anything to work with.

As a final note: All community entries must be tagged with the names of the characters involved so that they are easily found when necessary. First and last name, no nick names.

Journal Based RP

Each character has their own journal which is their personal livejournal account. They will use it just like we would in real life. The journals must be updates at least once a week, more would be even better.

You can write about anything, just as you would in your own journal.

The only different between our LJs and the character's LJs is that the characters have the option of setting certain parts of text to private or so that it's only accessible to certain people.

Example

So, today was great! I did this and that and blah blah blah. Insert a fascinating Miley story here.

[lj cut 'Nick']

Hey, I really need to talk to you so can you call me as soon as you can?

[/lj cut Nick]

[lj cut 'Private']

I've been thinking about what I'm going to say to him. I mean, I've written it out a hundred different times, you'd think I'd have it right by now but I'm just not sure.

[/lj cut Private]

Characters can only reply to the main text that is not labeled Nick or Private. Only Nick can reply to the text labeled Nick.

When Replying

Characters reply to other character's journal entries just as we would. They comment on whatever is wrote or ask them something different. Say Kevin was going to call Garbo and ask him something. Instead, he would ask him through commenting on his journal. Garbo would then reply to Kevin's comment with his response.

If it would be a private matter, 'Private' would be written in the subject line. This means that you, as a player, can read what they write but your character doesn't know that it went on.

Read this thoroughly before applying!

Over a year ago, a little community called JBLS opened to the public with fresh faces, open characters, and a premise and setting revolving around the newest boy-band-hot-ticket-super-group to capture the hearts of millions: the Jonas Brothers. Back then, the boys had a lot going for them - not that they don't, now, of course - including a new album, a national tour an upcoming TV show, and on top of that their personal lives that they had to keep in check.

However, over the course of this year, JBLS has vastly expanded and branched out. New players brought new characters, new focuses, new friendships, and new drama. What was once just a game about the Jonas Brothers has stretched to incorporate the whole of the Disney Channel spectrum (TV, Movies, and Music) and all in between.

JBLS is just as it aways was - same name, but with a different attitude. The plot follows the lives of all those in young Hollywood that pledge allegiance to the Mouse (or have in the past). Who's dating who, which girls are friends or frenemies, who gets backstabbed and who gets the boy. The Disney Channel is a lot darker than you'd think. Want more? Shape the way the action unfolds, join and find out just how deep the rabbit hole goes.

Setting: Los Angeles
Date: Current date.

I am aware there may be a character or two missing from a certain show or movie, but this is for a reason (ie the mods feel like this character would not work). Comment here if you feel like so and so absolutely needs to be applied as and one of the mods will get back to you asap. Also, feel free to leave any questions on this post and they'll hopefully be replied to as quickly as possible! Thank you!

Attention!: Post all applications in the OOC Community
Here: jobro_ooc

Read the rules before filling this out and posting it. Always read the rules first.
Link can be found through the profile.

The Player

Name
Age
Contact Info AIM screen name is preferred. A lot of interaction in this community is AIM-based, so if you don't have one, now might be the time to get one.
Experience This doesn't have to be detailed, but if this is your first time rping, we should probably know that.
Who referred you? Where did you find the community? Another player, a community, etc.

The Character

Name
Age
Appearance Post a picture/link here.
Likes/Dislikes You can either list or describe your character's favorite and least favorite things. Be creative and inventive as well as descriptive. Naming things is okay, but we would also like some reasoning behind them. The likes/dislikes section doesn't all have to be physical objects.
Family Life/Hometown Describe siblings, parents, where your character grew up, how they feel about their family and how that environment affected them.
Disney Relation What does your character have to do with Disney and/or the Jonas Brothers? How did they come to be in this position? We want to see some details here. Many Disney stars have guest starred all over the place, which means they would know more than just who they regularly work with. Take a look at the characters page and talk about who your character knows already in the community. Characters outside the community are perfectly fine to add here because obviously we don't have everyone. This section is a basis of the interaction we expect from you when you first join. Having an idea of who your character will interact with and how they feel about people gives you a good start of how this community works.
Relationships Does your character have someone special? Do they have a past involving relationships? Are they a virgin? A prude? A slut? Explore this topic. Some characters have past history with
Originality What sets your character out from everyone else? It’s fine to be a normal person but everyone has something about them that makes them different. Talk about it. This is the most important section of this application. Please be as detailed as possible. We want to know about your character and what sets them apart from the 30+ characters we already have. Many applications have been accepted or denied based on originality alone, so please do not disappoint.
Anything else you wish to add Did we forget to include any topics that may be crucial to your character? Write whatever else you want here.

Community Writing Sample Here you will write as if you were in a thread in the community. (If you followed all of the links in the profile like you should have, you’ll know what a thread is. Hell, you should probably know what that is anyway unless this is your first time roleplaying.) Make it as long and detailed as possible without godmodding at all. How does your character feel about the situation and the others involved? Please choose from one of the following prompts:
- Your character runs into (not literally, but if you want them to, go for it) another character of your choosing at craft services (catering etc) on their shared lot. How does your character react to seeing so and so?
- Your character finds something dear to them from their childhood. What is it, why is it dear to them, and how are they finding it now? (This one is good if you want to practice really getting into your character's head and their ~feelings~)

Journal Writing Sample Write as if your character is updating their journal. Feel free to include various text cuts for certain people and a private section. Actually, this is strongly suggested. Once again, we stress creativity. Choose a random topic for your character to blog about and go for it!

Please note that we would like to see effort go into these applications. It is very obvious when something has been slapped together in an hour. This community is pretty hardcore, and completing the application correctly shows us that you are committed and someone we want to allow in. If you don't want to take the time to think things through and look around the community first, then this probably isn't the place for you. Thank you for your time.

the rules for jobrolifestory.

1. You do not talk about jobrolifestory.

2. You do NOT talk about jobrolifestory

3. Proper capitalization and punctuation must be used when threading in the main community at all times. The journals are not a big deal since the characters in real life will not always use capitals and the like.

4. All members are to be respected unless we're joking around OOC.

5. There will be no godmodding allowed. Godmodding is when you attempt to take over another's character or tell them what they should do. You must not type dialogue or action for any character/s other than your own, unless for some reason a needed character isn't around. When this is the case, you need mod permission.

6. This community is intended for mature players. We can not be held responsible for anything offensive posted here. This includes graphic sex, incest and swearing.

7. If a post becomes R-rated, please place it behind a cut and give a warning.

8. Het/slash/smut are all welcome. However, do not base your character around any of these things. Plot is wonderful.

9. Activity is super important. You must post either in the main community or in your journal at least once every twoish weeks. If there is inactivity for an extended period of time, you will be b&.

9a. Characters must comment on other character's journals frequently. RPing is about creativity and imagination so you must be able to find something to say.

10. If you need to go on hiatus/vacation, let the mods know. If this hiatus/vacation goes on for a ridiculous amount of time, your character will be put up for adoption.

11. All OOC posts are to be made in the OOC journal. OOC comments are welcome but must be clearly marked with double parentheses around the text.

ex: ((This post made me laugh so hard. You win.))

12. All entries, whether in the comm or journals, must be written in first person. You are always your character when posting therefore your thoughts are always known.

13. Entries in the main community are action based. The setup must look like this:

Where: The tour bus
Who: Kevin and Nick

lj-cut

I promised Nick that I would tell him what was really going on so when I found him hanging out by himself in the back of the bus, I figured now was as good as ever.

"Hey," I said awkwardly before plopping on the couch next to him.

14. Individual journals can be used for private matters, public matters, anything. If a section of text is intended for your character only, place it behind a cut labeled as private. If a section of text is intended for one or two people, label the cut accordingly. If the text is public for all to see, it does not have to go under a cut. Pictures posted on individual journals should go under a cut labeled how you wish it to be. Note that anyone can reply to your post if you have not specified that they can't.

15. You can now apply as up to three characters. New members will be restricted to only one until they've proven they have a grasp on the community and would be able to handle a second character. This also goes for third characters. Please alert a mod if you're a veteran member applying as a second/third character. Second and third characters are a privilege, not a right.

16. We don't want no drama. No no, no drama. Deal with it elsewhere, plz. Unless of course it is in the actual RP, then much dramz~ is welcome. If there is an issue with another player, come straight to the mods, no hesitation.

17. Rules can and probably will be changed at any time.

18. Be sure that you know how LJ RPing works. Equally, be sure that you understand how it works in this community. If you need any direction or a touch up go here.

19. Be sure to read the overview here before applying.

20. The option of friend locking character journals is open if you so choose. The mods strongly encourage you to leave everything open to peak the interests of anyone watching the community but the choice is yours.

21. Tagging of AIM conversations will be done by the mods. Members can tag their own threads in the main community. You may tag your own entries in the OOC community as this can often be fun and amusing but be sure to include a relevant tag for easy searching.

22. All character journals comment pages must now be set to LJ's default comment page. See here for instructions on how to do this.

23. Character's friends list must be up to date. Add any new characters immediately and the same for deleting characters that are no longer part of the RP.

23. One and two lined replies are not allowed in threads. Make them longer or this rule will be copied and pasted to you and the thread will be put on hold until it is fixed. Everyone has their off days but if you were accepted, we are positive you can write something longer than that.

24. Mod word is final. Everything we do/say/have you do is for a good reason. Trust me, we're not mods for no reason. Mods are Kelly (brainsnbraun sknights),  Halez (clinleypongs, lucastilltheend) and Blash (dj_danjah).

This community is currently only accepting applications for real people. This means that no original characters (OCs) will be accepted at this time. The reason for this is that there are enough options available to avoid making up a complete person.
